Robert Gershman received his Bachelor of Accounting degree from George Washington University in 1988 and his law degree from Nova Southeastern Law School in 1991. Robert met his wife, Cindy, also an attorney, during their freshman year of college at GWU. After graduating, Robert and Cindy were married in Boca Raton, Florida., where they have lived for more than twenty years. Robert and Cindy have a 17 year old son, Jordan, and a 15 year old daughter, Allie. Robert is a, kind and devoted husband to Cindy and a fun-loving and attentive father to Jordan and Alexandra. Robert has dedicated his career to upholding the constitution and fighting for justice. In 1991, Robert spent his final law school semester working in the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office Internship Program. Based upon Robert’s performance, then State Attorney David Bludworth hired him as a full time prosecutor. Robert worked as a Palm Beach County Assistant State Attorney under David Bludworth’s and Barry Krischer’s administrations. Robert’s prosecutorial work earned him a reputation throughout the courthouse and legal community as tough, ethical, and fair. During his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney, Robert quickly rose through the ranks of county and circuit courts. Robert personally prosecuted all types of crimes, including misdemeanors, felonies, traffic homicides and death penalty cases. Robert served as a division chief, where he managed hundreds of prosecutions, including many high profile cases. After leaving the State Attorney’s Office, Robert entered private practice, specializing in criminal defense litigation. Robert has managed his Palm Beach County law practice for more than 15 years. Robert has tried many significant cases throughout Florida, in State and Federal Court, at both the trial and appellate levels. Robert is one of an elite & select class of attorneys certified under Florida State Statute to serve as lead trial counsel in death penalty cases. After Robert entered private practice, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office and the Courts appointed him as a special prosecutor in significant cases. Throughout his long and distinguished legal career, Robert has litigated all types of court cases and has tried hundreds of jury trials. Robert has personally appeared before each and every current sitting criminal court judge in the Palm Beach County State Court system and the West Palm Beach Division of the Federal Court System. Additionally, Robert has served as attorney of record on appellate work in State and Federal Courts, and has presented oral arguments before the Federal Appellate Courts. Robert devotes countless hours to pro bono work. For his outstanding public service efforts, Robert has received awards from the Florida Bar acknowledging his meritorious service. As a family man and long time Palm Beach County resident, Robert is deeply invested in his community. Robert is committed to serving the needs and citizens of Palm Beach County. As the next State Attorney, Robert will be the highest ranking law enforcement officer for Palm Beach County. He will represent the residents of Palm Beach County with zeal and integrity and will focus his efforts on ensuring justice for all.
